Bud Was a Heckuva Guy

Bud Offerdahl, my sister in law Sheri’s father

I’m sorry to say I did not know him well.
He was one of those guys you could meet him and tell.
That he was a good man. A good husband and father!
An easy going type who was never a bother.

His family is represent of how he did live.
He loved and he laughed, and he’d, generously, give.
He fought a tough battle, as bold as could be.
The flesh that distraught him has set his soul free.

It’s hard for the one’s that ole Bud left behind.
Though he’s gone from this world, he is still in our mind.
The mem’ries he left were the treasures he stored.
He now is with God! He’s received his reward.

Yes, it’s true, we are sad that he’s no longer here.
But that’s only in flesh, ‘cause his Spirit is near.
Bud’s alive in our hearts. He has touched all of our souls.
God took him back home. He’d accomplished his goals.

Let’s be happy for Bud, for his suffering has ended.
Let’s be grateful for all whom he’d loved and befriended.
Though we claim he has died—his life’s really just started.
His flesh and his soul, at our loss, have departed.

Even now Bud is giving! He left his remains.
That science might learn from him. Thoughts of their gains!
When you think of unselfishness, Bud comes to mind.
The same with considerate! Loving and kind!

We thank you dear Father, for Bud’s life and its blessing.
The glory you’ve gave him. The love you’re expressing.
Thanks for your promise, we’ll be, one day, united.
For the place you’ve prepared! For us being invited!

Give strength to the family. Bring joy where there’s sorrow.
Today we will grieve. Let us cheer, then tomorrow.
Let us celebrate, where Bud has left us to go.
Let his Spirit increase ours and help us to grow.

Knowing Bud, he’s already, doing Heavenly chores.
Prob’ly helping some Angel fix some windows or doors.
God’s telling him now, “Bud you’re here on vacation.
By the way, meet my son who had gave you salvation.”
