Remembering My Father
Bill Ackerman (my dad)
A family man. Four sons, one girl. A caring, loving wife.
Two grandsons and six grandgirls. Yes, he led a fruitful life.
A good provider, all the years, when times were not so bright.
Always there in times of need. Always set things right.
A friend to many people. I would name them if I could.
Friends whose every single word, they had to say, was good.
Regardless if they knew him well, they always would reply.
“Heck, I knew Bill when you were young.” “Your dad was quite a guy.”
He built a much respected business. Brilliantly devised.
Impressive in its attributes. The way it’s organized.
Brought a sense of unity, to everyone involved.
Always helped with people’s problems. Seeing them resolved.
A constant contribution in so many, many ways.
To Janesville’s small community, throughout his living days.
Gave so much, so generously, to people, when in need.
Worked so hard, devotedly, in order to succeed.
Came to know his Savior, though he waited ‘til the end.
Learned of life with Jesus, with the time he’d left to spend.
He opened many eyes to Christ. He made his message heard.
Not only thru his actions, but confession of his Word.
We’re going to miss Bill Ackerman. We never will forget him.
I’m sure these words, I speak, hold true, for everyone who’d met him.
His spirit’s with the Father now. No more will he despair.
Remembering my father, let me offer, please, a prayer.
Thank you Lord, for saving him. Bless him, please, I pray.
Take him to your kingdom. Guide him safely, Lord I pray.
Until the day we join him, while we’re praying, may he hear it.
Please bless us with his memories, and fill us with his spirit.
