Thank You Robert, for Being My Friend
Bob Horne was my friend.
To his sad dying end.
I am proud I can stand here today.
Forty years it has been.
We were not even men.
When we’d first met and started to play.
Our adventures were many.
Fights, we hardly had any.
He believed in me right to this day!
Struggles, we had went thru them.
Pain and hardship, we knew them.
But we always got thru them I can say.
Bob was truly outstanding.
Just a little demanding!
He was one guy, upon whom I could depend.
I’ve had friends thru the years.
But I have shared the most tears.
With Bob, my most devoted and truly best friend.
Which is why I am proud.
I can say right out loud,
I am privileged to speak, now, of he.
I can share bout my friend.
Who right up to the end
Shared his life, to its fullest with me!
I would like to share stories
Of our hardship and glories
They are too long and many to tell.
It was fun! It was sad.
It was good! It was bad!
It was life and with Bob it was swell!
I can’t tell you enough,
that sometimes we’re quite rough.
It’s those times that I needed a friend, most
That was when he was there,
showing nothing but care!
He was Grasshoppers’ friend and good host.
That’s a name that had grew.
from the series Kung-Fu.
To a name that between us was cherished.
He had gave it to me’
back in seventy three.
It’s the last name he said ‘fore he had perished.
As my hero, I’ll tell you,
tales most couldn’t sell you
He is why, my poems, I still sit down and write.
Bob’s my jingle and rhythm.
While I’m writing, I’m with him.
Not to mention his bragging on how I am able to fight.
In karate I’m speaking!
That’s the pride I was seeking,
Bob gave me it cuz he had truly believed.
If it weren’t for this guy.
I’d have quit, never try.
He’s the reason for all the good things I had ever achieved.
Yes Bob Horne saved my life.
He was friend! — He was wife!
He was Dad! — He was son! — He was father but mostly was brother!
I’ve was that for him too
Twas the least I could do
For treating me better and kinder than anyone other!
I could speak of his kindness.
His prejudice blindness!
The goodness inside him that few’d ever gotten to know!
Thanks for being my friend.
Always willing to bend!
It is hard saying bye even harder is letting you go.
Thanks for friendship, the rarest.
The dearest! The carest!
Thanks for all of the lessons together that we dared to learn.
Thanks for laughs and for smiles;
and for all of our worth whiles.
For every kind act you had done out of honest concern.
Goodbye Bob — Be cool!
I’ll remember your rule
I’m sad that the time you had spent with us, now, has expired.
You were truly the best.
As my friend, I was blessed.
Hope you’ve found the deep sleep you so long, had so deeply desired.
