Thank You for Being Our Friend
A heart that was tender; a generous soul!
A friend that’s as true as can be!
A humorous guy that you just had to like!
Yes, Greg was a good friend to me.
A wonderful dad who loved both his kids,
no matter thru thick or thru thin.
One proud of his parents and both of his sisters,
and all of his other close kin.
I’ve known him forever and knew him quite close,
I witnessed him on his last leg.
I speak for each one, when I say that we all
have the fondest of mem’ries of Greg.
A smile contagious! The warmest compassion!
So much I could add to this list!
He was just like a brother; the one I had not.
I can’t tell you how bad he’ll be missed.
His illness came sudden. He faced it quite boldly.
His pain, so severe, didn’t show.
He had such a love for his children who loved him.
which made it so hard to let go!
Our friendship grew closer and closer and closer,
right up to his sad dying end.
I’ve never known anyone quite like ole Greg.
I am proud to have called him my friend.
We come here today, to say our farewells.
as we lay his worn body to rest.
To shed a few tears and some memories fond!
To remember the one we loved best.
I am happy to say that he knew where it was
He would go when he left us behind.
To be with the God that looks down on us now;
the God that I helped him to find!
His journey’s not over! It’s only beginning!
He’s gone where we all hope to go.
Someday we will join him when our number comes.
That’s one thing that, surely, I know.
Good-bye lifelong buddy. Thanks for the friendship,
you’d shown to my children and wife.
A friendship so special, like few ever know!
You have blessed us by sharing your life.
Now that it’s over and now that you’ve gone,
Your memory continues to live.
I hope you’ll find peace as we put you to rest.
These words were the least I could give.
We know you will hear us and shine down upon us
Realizing how much we all care.
We know you will hear us and always be close,
As we speak of your name in our prayer.
You now are in Heaven. Your burden’s been lifted.
Your troubles have come to their end.
