We Won't Forget You Charlene

She was one of the few who believed in my talents.
She sorted them out and she gave them some balance.
She said I could do what I set my mind into.
She gave me a hope and a dream I could pin to.

She felt what was hurting me when we conversed.
She wasn't pretending nor phony, rehearsed.
She tried so to help with my troubling addictions.
She helped me prioritize all've my convictions.

She gave me advice that came straight from her heart.
She saw my new project would have a good start.
She believed I could do it, when so many else doubted.
And now she is gone from the cancer she bouted.

As brave as they come and she likewise was strong.
She battled that cancer and battled it long.
She fought it before and she marked up a win.
I prayed and I hoped she could do it again.

I'll miss her quite sadly regretting, I can't,
no longer drive down and just visit my aunt.
I passed her house daily and that's my regret.
How briefly and seldom it was that we'd met.

Good-bye aunt Charlene! Thanks for being a friend.
One who would listen, on whom I could depend.
All that you wanted were good things for me.
The treasure you left must have just meant to be.

I'll cherish it always. I'll learn and I'll grow.
I'll find my success and I'll let the world know,
that I once had an aunt who encouraged this task
I'll tell them about you whenever they ask.

As I told you before and I think that you noted.
My first publication, to you'll be devoted.
Your memories live on as your spirit soars high now.
I guess it is time that I must say good-bye now.
