A Friend Indeed

Friends come and go all so quickly these days.
While friends come in many, such, various ways.
We feel very fortunate; me and my wife.
We’ve made a good friend who’ll remain all our life.

We’re thankful we met you, John. Grateful in fact!
Your friendship is true, not deceitful; an act.
Your kindness is constant. You’re generous too.
Sincere in your actions in all that you do.

Your company’s welcome, each time we connect.
You give us your compliments, love and respect!
In case it don’t show, we are honored to know you.
We hope you can feel what we don’t always show you.

The kids both adore you and speak of you well.
We all think you’re great, just in case you can’t tell.
You’re generous, giving and thoughtful combined.
You’re as good of a friend as we’d hope we could find.

We wanted to give you a memorable gift.
One that your spirits, it surely would lift.
And so since you like them, the poems that I send!
I thought I would write one, for being our friend.

A friend we can turn to; our troubles to share.
To let you know, brother, how deeply we care.
How thankful we are for your friendship, sincere.
To leave you no doubt and to make it quite clear!

That you’re always welcome here; have you no doubt.
The kind of good friend that you can’t live without!
You came at a time; you were just what we need!
A truly good friend and a good one indeed!
